Sunday Share #2 – The 2017 Edition

Remember that post back in November where I said that I wanted to post semi-regular Sunday updates about general life and what not? Yeah, that went well. I feel like I haven’t sat down and properly poured my heart out in to a post for a while, mostly because December was ridiculously hectic. I shared my month over on my YouTube channel in the form of Vlogmas videos, which kind of took up most of my creative energy for the time. Between an ever-growing workload at college, working the run up to Christmas in retail and a flurry of parties, events and general get-togethers, December was slightly exhausting. Things are changing now, though.

I stretched myself far too thin in 2016, which really had its impact. My pledge to myself in 2017 is to make more time to do what I want to do, be that more time to look after myself, more time to sleep, more time to work on my blog, more time to curl up with a book or more time to spend with my nearest and dearest. A big part of this was making the decision to quit my job, which was difficult, but I think it had to be done. I’m lucky enough to be in a position where I could get by without my job, thanks to my student loan, some savings and a little bit of income from my blogging endeavours, and as much as I’ll miss my job I know it’s going to be a good step. I need more time to focus on my college work, because I want to do it well without feeling this constant exhaustion I had from studying full time, working every free day and running my blog on the side. Alongside college, it will also give me more time to focus on this blog and all that comes along with it, which will require some hard work, but I love it so much that it never feels laborious.

I’m never usually too bothered by New Year’s Eve, and usually, I prefer to stay in over heading out with the revellers, but in a stray from normality I spent my Hogmanay surrounded by some of my favourite people at a ceilidh in the city centre. It’s left me on an absolute high, albeit slightly hungover, and I’m feeling so positive about the year ahead. I’ve deemed 2017 my year of balance, the year of self-care and hustle. I’m going to work so hard to make this my year, but I’m going to put myself and my health, mental and physical, first too. It’ll be a year for change, seeing as I’m starting it unemployed (or self-employed, I suppose?) and in less than two weeks my boyfriend moves 300 miles away to start a new job, but change is a good thing. After the mixed bag that was 2016, I think I need some change!

I’ll stop rambling now and leave you with this handful of posts I’ve enjoyed recently before I head back to an afternoon on the sofa in my onesie:

What are you looking forward to in 2017?
